5 Things To Do Before Your Professional Packers and Movers

Let’s face it. Moving is stressful both emotionally and physically. If you don’t handle things timely until the moving day arrives, things become difficult to manage. Even if you have hired a professional moving company to manage everything on your behalf, you must take charge of a few things and lend them a helping hand. There are five preparations that you can do to make the work easy for your professional packers.

Go Through Your Things

Undoubtedly, you have hired your professional movers to make your moving less hectic for you but leaving everything on them is not a good idea. Make sure that you go through all the stuff that needs to be moved and filter things on your own. It would be better to throw away items that you don’t want to keep any further instead of taking them along with you.

Separate Items You Want To Keep With You

On moving day, there are certain items that you don’t want to keep in the moving truck. For instance, if there are important documents, jewelry, or cash, it would be wise to keep them with you. Find out all your valuable items and label them as fragile items so that there don’t get lost during moving and storage.

Get A Moving Insurance Beforehand

Moving companies are not always insured so it is a better idea to get insurance on your own. Getting insurance is beneficial in the sense that if there is accidental damage on the way, you will get compensation for it.

Label Each & Every Thing

You may be thinking that your professional packers will do the job for you, but there is lots of work during packing and loading that you cannot ask them to label things. It would be better to prepare the labels before so that when they put things in the boxes, you just place the label on it. This is the best way to open the exact carton when needed. It also helps the movers to unload the stuff in the room where you exactly want to put those things in your new home.

Dispose Of Things What You Cannot Move

Your professional packers are not going to pack each and everything for you. Most of the residential moving services, states clearly about the items they won’t pack. However, if they have not mentioned the list already, you must know that frozen and refrigerated food items are perishable. They won’t pack these things especially if it is a long-distance move. The same is the case with hazardous items and cleaning fluids. It would be better to dispose of things beforehand.
